We need to have our food sustain our nation of Hawaii, by bringing back and supporting our local farmers and Dairies, not large corporation farming. We as the government need to help local farmers and dairies with land to do these things for our people and entire State of Hawaii. to feed our nation and to buy local. Especially in these times of the pandemic.
Hawaii food source should not be grown here then sent to the mainland and then shipped back for our families to pay such high prices of food when it is grown here in our islands.
A national or international catastrophe could put Hawaii in a dire emergency of not having enough food supply. This conduit is unsustainable for our people. We must do more to support local food production in alignment with other constitutional mandates. We can do this by creating and supporting inter-island food production.
In doing this we will create jobs in rural communities who have the capacity to grow food, decrease our dependence on imports, and minimize the negative impacts on our special environment to make Hawaii truly sustainable. www.koafoundation.com
Land Management and Housing
Many families living here in the islands are faced with the glaring reality of buying food for their families or paying the mortgage or rent. Housing costs are the single largest expenditure for families in Hawaii today. By taking care of helping families with these expenditures we can slow down the homeless working families as well. www.koafoundation.com
I believe the first teaching come from within our own homes, our teachers need to be at the top of list, Teachers are the vital sources in our educational system they help mold our children to prepare for higher learning. They are ones who help our families mold our children for a greater tomorrow. Our teachers need to be paid as if they are a collage professor. The current decision are hurting our children and communities we need this to change for the better. We must act now to give our teachers the support they need and deserve. As Representative I will make sure of this change in our school system.
Health Care for our Families
In Hawaii there are thousands of our families in Hawaii cannot afford health care insurance. Because of the high cost of living or unexpected health issue that come up. we need to change the health care system to support our working families as well as the non- working regardless of economic status. By taking care of these of what is needed for our families and more so our kupuna. When doing so we relive the stress of our family unit.
